  6. This file is created as an attempt to help all new HST users set up the
  7. modems for BBS data transfer.
  8.  
  9. It is assumed that the user is using Telix 3.11 and the HST supports 38400.
  10. No attempt will be made to explain these various settings as it is all covered
  11. in the documentation that comes with the modem. Using these settings I can
  12. consistently download at 1700 to 1750 cps.

  14. Use YMODEM-G in ProDoor for best results.  Any of the -G protocols can be used
  15. with good results.  You can also use ZMODEM it will be a little slower, but will work fine.

  17. You should also replace the large chip on your COM port with a ns16550an chip.

  19. Back switches on HST:
  20. 1 up
  21. 2 up
  22. 3 down
  23. 4 up
  24. 5 down
  25. 6 up
  26. 7 up
  27. 8 down
  28. 9 up
  29. 10 up

  31. Enter telix
  32. Enter alt O and set the baud rate for 2400 baud
  33.  
  34. Enter telix terminal and enter the following:
  35. AT X6 &B1 &H1 &K3 &W
  36.  
  37. Note: if you do not have the V42.BIS chip installed
  38.       use the above modem string except substitute
  39.       &K0 for &K3.

  41. The modem should respond with ok.

  43. Enter alt O and select terminal options:
  44. Set the baud rate for 38,400
  45. Set xon/xoff software flow to off
  46. Set cts/rts flow on
  47. set dst/dtr flow off
  48.  
  49. Enter modem configuration:
  50. Make sure autobaud detect is set to off.
  51.  
  52. Make sure that you set 38400 in your dialing directory for those numbers
  53. you intend to use for connecting to other HST'S.
  54.  
  55. Your init string in the modem setup should be ATZ^M
  56.  
  57. I hope that this is a help to new HST users and if anyone knows of a better
